Exhibition notes: Nordlys

Curated by Bello — aurora, ice and northern light across four studios. The show brings together 7 pieces across 4 artists, opening with Ingrid Halvorsen's "Polar Signal."

What's on view

Discounting norms vary wildly by category — prints tolerate negotiation far better than one-of-one originals, mostly because a print's price was built around a run size from the start, while an original's price is closer to a single, considered number an artist won't move much on.

A marketplace with transparent, published commission rates removes a specific kind of friction that direct sales rarely resolve cleanly: knowing exactly what an artist nets from a sale before either side has to have that conversation directly.

Why these pieces belong together

Rotating what's on the wall, even within a small apartment, keeps a collector looking at pieces rather than past them — familiarity is the main enemy of actually seeing a painting you've owned for three years.

Light is the quiet threat to most home collections — direct sun does more damage in a single bright afternoon than most collectors expect, and it's the cheapest problem in the world to solve by simply choosing a different wall.

The show is live now — start with "Polar Signal" for a sense of the range on view.
