What's actually different

Oil on linen ages differently than oil on canvas — linen's tighter, more even weave resists the sagging and texture-through that canvas can develop over decades, which is part of why it remains the preferred support for work intended to last generations.

What it means for a buyer

Buying internationally used to mean navigating customs paperwork nobody explained clearly until something got stuck at a border; a marketplace that handles shipping logistics on the seller's side removes most of that uncertainty without removing the collector's ability to buy from anywhere.

Budget discipline in collecting isn't about spending less, it's about deciding in advance what a piece has to do for you before you see the price tag, so the price tag doesn't end up doing the deciding for you.
