Pro membership

Every artist on Bello starts at Standard tier — 8% commission, full access to listings, escrow, and your own dashboard, no fees to join. Pro tier drops that commission to 3% and is our way of rewarding the studios doing consistent, reliable business on the platform.

What Pro tier changes

  • Commission drops from 8% to 3% on every sale, applied automatically from the moment your account is upgraded. On a $2,000 painting, that's the difference between paying $160 in commission and paying $60 — money that stays with you, not us.
  • Nothing else changes. Pro is purely a fee tier, not a different set of tools. You list, ship, and manage orders exactly the way you do at Standard — same dashboard, same escrow protection, same wallet. We don't gate features like Collections, Exhibitions inclusion, or Commissions behind Pro; every artist gets the full toolset from day one.
  • Your rate is locked in per sale. The commission rate that applies to an order is the rate in effect on your account at the time that order is placed, so a tier change never reaches backward into orders already sold.

How artists qualify

We look at a rolling picture of your account rather than a single number, because a healthy Pro-tier roster is one buyers can trust without thinking twice. In practice, that means:

  • A consistent sales history. We want to see that you're actually operating as a working seller — multiple completed, released orders rather than a single lucky sale.
  • A clean dispute record. Orders that reach resolution without a dispute, or where disputes (if any) resolved cleanly in your favor, weigh heavily. A pattern of disputes resolved against you is the fastest way to stay at Standard, or to be moved back to it if you're already Pro.
  • Reliable fulfillment timelines. Shipping within the window you represent on your artist profile matters — both for your buyers and for how the algorithm weighs your account.
  • Accurate listings. Edition counts, medium, and licence terms that match what actually ships. This is table stakes, but it's also the fastest way to jeopardize Pro eligibility if it slips.

These criteria aren't a fixed scorecard we publish and freeze — we review and adjust them periodically as the platform grows, and meeting them today doesn't guarantee Pro status tomorrow if your account's pattern changes. We'd rather be straightforward about that than pretend there's a static formula we're not actually using.

How the upgrade happens

There's no separate "apply for Pro" form. Our team reviews qualifying accounts periodically and upgrades them directly — you'll see your tier change reflected on your dashboard and in the commission applied to your next sale. If you believe your account already meets the bar described above and hasn't been reviewed, reach out through the chat widget or at support@bello.art and we'll take a look.

Moving back to Standard

Pro tier isn't permanent by default. If an account's dispute record or fulfillment reliability slips materially after an upgrade, we may move it back to Standard commission going forward — again, only prospectively, never retroactive to orders already completed. We'll always tell you directly if this happens and why, rather than let you find out from a commission line you weren't expecting.

Why we do it this way

We don't charge listing fees, and we don't take a cut of shipping or insurance — commission on the sale price is our only revenue from a transaction. Pro tier lets us reward the sellers who make that model work well for everyone: buyers get reliable, well-described, on-time deliveries, and the artists driving that experience keep more of what they earn. It's a simple lever, deliberately — no subscription, no upfront cost, nothing to lose if your circumstances change for a season. Just a lower rate for artists who've shown, order after order, that they're running a dependable studio on Bello.

Questions about your own account's standing? The fastest way to get a real answer is the chat widget — our team can pull up your specific sales and dispute history and tell you exactly where you stand.
